In my capacity as a Councillor and Officer Commanding Waterford Unit Naval Reserve, I was honoured to attend The National Day of Commemoration, in Waterford City. This day commemorates all Irishmen and Irishwomen, who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations.

As the 19th Anniversary of the loss of Irish Air Corps D248, call sign R111, approaches. New Mayor of Waterford City, Cllr Joe Kelly, gave a fine oration on the bravery of the crew, the heroic work of the Emergency Services and the loss of R116 last year, at a wreath laying ceremony.

Retail Excellence Ireland gets an insight into Waterford’s approach to collaborative working.

On Monday 25th June, Waterford Business Group hosted a national delegation, lead by Lorraine Higgins the Deputy CEO of Retail Excellence Ireland. Garda social media has been very active promoting the success of Operation Enable in the greater Dublin area. ‘Operation Enable’ is a multi-agency initiative between An Garda Síochána, Dublin City Council, Dublin Street Parking Services, the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland and Irish Wheelchair Association.

Special Olympic’s Torch comes to Waterford City

As Vice Chair of the Joint Policing Committee, it was an emotional and proud moment to be present when the Special Olympics Ireland Torch was brought to St Joseph’s School, Waterford City Centre by An Garda Síochána runners. The Torch is now on its way to Dublin.
